Picnicking in The Serengeti
On a recent (my first) trip to Tanzania, I was unsure of what to expect in terms of culinary offerings. Being East Africa, I knew the food would likely have a strong Middle Eastern influence (this made me quite happy), but wasn't sure if it would have an identity of its own. During my stay at Sanctuary Retreats Kusini Lodge, I was blown away by the picnic our guide created one day on an off-roading game drive in the Southern Serengeti. Fresh corn salad, hand-pressed griddle bread, carrot salad and skewered chicken, it was a perfect delight.
