Easy economical journey from Seoul that can be done in a day:

Step 1: Take the Green line (Line 2) to Gangbyeon Station (강변역). Take exit 4 and you'll see the Dong Seoul Bus Terminal (동서울터미널)

Step 2: Find the ticket booth for Sokcho (속초). It's W36thou round-trip. The trip there is about 2.5hrs-3 hrs without traffic.

Step 3: Once you get to the city of Sokcho, leave the bus terminal, turn right. and walk for about 30 seconds.You'll see a city bus stop. Take bus 7 or 7-1. It costs about W1100 and the ride is about 25 minutes to Seoraksan.
