Sea Salt is a seasonal restaurant serving a variety of seafood tacos and baskets in the middle of a city park. This place is so popular, it's common to wait in line for over an hour to place an order. To help pass the time, regulars know to order a beer from the ice cream counter before getting in line.
The outdoor dining area offers views of Minnehaha Park, along with the sound of a 53' waterfall nearby. Many people enjoy climbing around the base of Minnehaha Falls and exploring the surrounding hiking trails that follow the Minnehaha Creek, which forms the falls.
In other cities, the atmosphere would be enough of a draw, but not in Minneapolis. We've come to expect great food in all settings - even park pavilions. Sea Salt rises to the challenge. Their beautifully drawn chalkboard menu boasts a nice selection of fried and grilled fish dishes, along with sides like red beans and rice and seasonal salads.
The fried bay scallop tacos are my favorite. They stuff corn tortillas with a massive pile of scallops, then layer on the toppings and sauce. The fried fish basket is also superb; you are presented with a huge portion of crispy, salty, not-too-greasy white fish and slaw. Split a pitcher of Minnesota-brewed beer with friends and you've just discovered the most enjoyable way to kill three hours on a spring, summer or fall afternoon.
