Schloss Hof was created as a shining beacon of comfort and colorful exuberance. Prince Eugene, a fervent lover of the arts, built it as a summer palace and hunting lodge, while its subsequent owner Empress Maria Theresia used it to host some of the most extravagant parties the Viennese court had ever seen. In the 18th century however, the decline of Schloss Hof began, and it was only recently that the palace was fully restored. It has finally reclaimed its rightful spot on the cultural map, and makes for a great little trip from Vienna. The beautiful palace gardens are open to visitors again and are guaranteed to take your breath away.
