Say Hello to the Greeter Statue

Laguna Beach has a long history of being one seriously welcoming community. And its all thanks to Eiler Larsen. In the 1940s Larsen made his way to the seaside community. Though he was a bit of a vagabond the town embraced Larsen and his eccentric ways. In return, he stood at the corner of Pacific Coast Highway and Forest Avenue to wave at each and every passing person. And he did this every single day until he died in 1979. To remember him and to continue to embrace his welcoming message the city of Laguna beach erected a statue in his honor. It stands — where else — at the corner of Forest and the Pacific Coast Highway (specifically at 329 South Coast Highway, Laguna Beach, California). All visitors are welcome to stop at the statue, take a few selfies, and continue Larsen’s message by waving at any passing cars that cruise by.
