For a firsthand look at the indigenous cultures of Ketchikan, head just south of town to Saxman Village. Here you can not only peruse the collection of 25 standing totem poles, but also watch as master woodworkers create new ones right in the carving shed. The village also showcases the living culture of the local Native Alaskans, with tribal ceremonies in traditional dress and a dance show inside the clan house.
