The barrio of Santa Catalina, once the fishing quarter, lies just behind the old harbor, a short walk from Palma's city center. In recent years, the charming streets with their modest balconied houses have become Palma’s happening neighborhood for restaurants and bars, as well as a hub for Scandinavian expats. Mercat de Santa Catalina, the city’s best produce market after L’Olivar, is the barrio’s social center and a great place to find a foodie souvenir.
