Santa Catalina Island

Tiny Santa Catalina Island lies just north of Providencia. The two islands are connected by the Puente de Enamorados, or Lovers’ Bridge, a short floating bridge painted in bright Caribbean colors. Santa Catalina was a popular base for privateers during the time of English raids on Spanish settlements. Modern-day visitors will enjoy seeing its colorful houses and the handful of shops and restaurants. It’s an especially good place to take a stroll, since no cars are allowed on the island.
