Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History Sea Center

Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History Sea Center
The Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History Sea Center anchors the end of Stearns Wharf. Sitting directly above the Pacific Ocean, it offers marine exhibitions and a window onto the Santa Barbara Channel as well as a kid-friendly "shark touch tank."

Operated by the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History, the Sea Center is run by volunteer docents that teach visitors about the local intertidal flora, fauna and wildlife, whether it's a mermaid’s purse (the egg capsule that surrounds the fertilized eggs of sharks and skates), the varying seagrass beds or the Navanax inermis, a predatory sea slug with brilliant brown and white coloring.
