Explore the Wonders of the SeaThe Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History Sea Center anchors the end of Stearns Wharf. Sitting directly above the Pacific Ocean, it offers interactive marine exhibitions and a window onto the Santa Barbara Channel, as well as a kid-friendly shark touch tank and tidal pool tank. The Sea Center is run by volunteer docents that teach visitors about the local intertidal flora, fauna, and wildlife, whether it's a mermaid’s purse (the egg capsule that surrounds the fertilized eggs of sharks and skates), varieties of seagrass, or hermit crabs.
