Sandy River DeltaIn Sandy River Delta, a park just outside of town, Portland has its own work by well-known artist and architect Maya Lin. A 1.2-mile trail leads to the wooden, open-air structure, called the Bird Blind. Inscribed vertically along the blind’s slats are the species Lewis and Clark spotted as they hacked a trail west—whether or not they still exist today. It’s a sobering reminder of the effect humans have on the environment, all while getting a view of the river and the mountains on the Washington side of the river.
