When people think of North Carolina they picture coastal plains, marshes, and miles of Atlantic coastline – not private islands – that’s only reserved for exotic locales, right? Not this cottage which provides the rest and respite that many vacationers are seeking right here on Sands Island just off the coast of Cedar Point.
Access to this polygonal shaped, two bedroom two bath, private isle waterfront cottage is only by boat which is approximately a ten minute ride to the shops and restaurants of downtown Swansboro, home to Arts by the Sea and the Mullet festivals. It’s all run on solar panels in keeping with its eco-friendliness. However, there’s nothing spartan about this accommodation which houses a fully furnished kitchen, dining area, bedrooms, living area, and screened in porch. Kayaks and motorboat transportation are provided to explore the natural inlet between Emerald Isle and Bear Island, creeks for paddling, and local fishing holes that provide a natural habitat for crabs, flounder and coveted redfish.
Sands Island Retreat cottage has all the exotic, isolated island feel right here in Eastern North Carolina.
