What a great experience it was to visit the Republic of San Marino! This little independent Republic is lovely, sophisticated, full of surprises, and offers a great hike and beautiful nature!
We hopped on the bus in Rimini in the morning and arrived in San Marino in less than one hour. You don't need a passport to enter into this beautiful community, but you do need lots of energy to walk the many hills (and bring a great appetite to eat their delicious food!). We tried the traditional "piadina", a flat bread specialty filled with prosciutto and cheese, arugula and other ingredients. Yummy!
There are three castles in San Marino which you also can visit. Each castle sits at the highest point on the mountain and are connected by hiking trails so you can walk along the mountain cliffs taking in the amazing views of the beautiful country below.
You can purchase a Republic of San Marino stamp for your passport here for only 5 Euros and keep this special souvenir as a memory of this unique country!
