Looking for a classy place for dinner one night,* we happened upon Zest Restaurant at the San Juan Water and Beach Club Hotel. This menu was phenomenal if you like seafood. Everything was cooked to perfection (which sounds slightly ridiculous to say, but true), and you could truly taste every rich flavor. I honestly thought I was fine dining in New York City, and seriously thought I should ask to compliment the chef...as if I was an editor at some food-schmooze magazine or NPR.
Quote the hotel website: "Chef Raúl Correa was among the 100 nominees nationwide for FOOD & WINE® magazine’s The People’s Best New Chef® award in 2013."
Within the hotel, there is a rooftop bar called Mist. The hostess offered to let us check it out, so we took the elevator up to see the scene. It was outdoor seating and served only tapas. Had we arrived earlier, it would have been cool to stay up there a while. Probably a great place for sunset cocktails.
Just a heads-up, no doubt you will have fun with the interior surfaces and elevator which are flooded with black lights. A total mood setter.
I cannot recommend staying in the hotel from experience, but based on what I saw when visiting, I would definitely consider it. I have seen hotel deals on Groupon and Living Social.
