I first attended Mass in this church in 1968, nearly 200 years after it's construction began in 1772, and have been visitng it every since. It is not old by European standards, but for America's brief history, it is. Although construction was not completed for 44 years, Catholic Masses were held in this structure prior to our Revolutionary War. This is possibly the most depicted building in the United States. Taos, among other things, is known worldwide an an "art" community. From my prospective, this edifice is Taos's finest work of art.
