Bloomington is a college town full of international students. And that diverse student population has resulted in a wide variety of excellent restaurants. When someone asks me where to eat for dinner in Bloomington my first answer is almost always Samira's Restaurant, right on the downtown square. The Afghan restaurant serves amazingly flavorful food for all manner of taste buds.
Less adventurous eaters will be perfectly happy with juicy chicken kabobs. But the cornish game kabob is the real star, with perfect salt crisp skin and succulent meat. The combination pasta gives you a taste of two kinds of dumplings, manto and aushuk. I could live off of the grilled eggplant appetizer that's provided complimentary before every meal. And the lentil soup that comes with every entree is great.
