Salto do Itiquira
Just a short one and a half hour drive outside of Brazil's capital city, Brasilia, lies the second largest waterfall in Brazil, Salto do Itiquira. Unlike many of Brazil's cachoeiras, Itiquira is accessible by well paved foot paths that lead to a swimming hole at the base of the falls and trail heads to the top of the falls. Giant blue butterflies flutter through the misty air in the rainy season, monkeys swing from the trees and a traditional "almoço" or lunch, is served at a quaint open-air restaurant off the parking area.
