Fête du Mimosa
While it is a popular brunch cocktail in the US, in France the mimosa is a yellow puff-ball of a flower that coats the hills of the French Riviera
every winter, filling the air with its light, fruity fragrance and a promise that spring is on its way. The old fishing port of Sainte Maxime celebrates this tiny acacia blossom with a weekend party every February. On Saturday there are guided visits to learn more about the plant, followed by workshops of float building and decorating. On Sunday the floats are ready to lead a parade through town followed by an afternoon of live music and dancing.
