Saint-Tropez Old Town

5 PLACE DES LICES, 83990 Saint-Tropez, France

Think of the Old Town of St.-Tropez and what may come to mind are the iconic images of Brigitte Bardot walking along the promenade in her bikini. Its history goes back much further than that. There was a settlement in the area at least as early as the Roman conquest of the region, though the city walls and fortifications weren’t erected until the 15th century. A series of pedestrian-only streets, now lined with designer boutiques, sits between the waterfront promenade and the Place des Lices, a short walk inland. Several popular cafés overlook the Place, which is also the site of a market on Tuesday and Saturday mornings.
