History in Germany
Though visiting a concentration camp isn't the ideal holiday highlight, I think it's necessary to learn about a country's history. About an hour by train outside of Berlin, Sachsenhausen Memorial and Museum serves as a grim reminder of Germany's past. The walk from the train station to the memorial is pleasant as the neighborhoods are very colorful and well maintained. The memorial area feels quite cold, but provides an in-depth view into the lives of prisoners held at the camp, which should be seen.
