French Art Nouveau Architecture: Castel Béranger
Hector Guimard was *THE* French Architect of the Art Nouveau. Not only is the gate to Castel Berange a delight, the doors, windows, staircases, plaster, every detail has been thoughtfully considered and curved to his taste. Just down the street, another. Just around the corner - it turns out there are about 16 buildings you can do as a little walking tour in the 16rh e (arrondissement). And, like all the neighborhoods in Paris, if you get tired you stop for cafe. There are little shops, small boutique hotels, and the metro to get you back to the hear of Paris when you are ready. I met a lovely couple from Belgium, also with a computer printed map and hand drawn notes also on the Guimard tour. If you love the Art Nouveau, getting away to quiet Paris neighborhoods, or really great architecture, taking this walk was lovely.
