14th Century Paris
La Maison du Mouton is just one (admittedly fabulous) example of why Le Marais received protected status (secteur protégé) from the French government some years back. This overhanging gabled building at 11-13 rue François Miron dates back to the 14th Century, making it one of the oldest buildings in Paris. And while you are imagining that Paris of centuries ago, it's interesting to know the rue François Miron replaced a section of the old Roman road.
