Rue du Parc-La Fontaine corner Rachel

A vast, 84-acre green space in the heart of the Plateau Mont-Royal neighbourhood, Parc La Fontaine has got everything, from a giant skating rink in wintertime on its two linked ponds, to an open-air theatre in the warmer months, where you can catch contemporary dance recitals, film screenings and live music for free. The park is most popular in the summer for its outdoor pools and paddling ponds for the kiddies, as well as its volley of public tennis courts. It’s one of the city’s most topographically interesting urban parks, in that it’s full of hills and dips, making it a stimulating place to jog or cross-country ski, and ideal for finding a nook for quaint alfresco romance (cue the champagne and strawberries). http://www.tourisme-montreal.org/What-To-Do/Attractions/parc-la-fontaine Photo: Susan Moss
