Sun & Thrills In NegrilJamaica has three tourism hubs: Montego Bay, Ocho Rios and Negril. Vacationers will find Negril the most unspoiled and rustic of the three cities, its winding roads dotted with small farms, churches, schools and modest taverns. Other edifices imply defunct guest houses or villas. Royalton Luxury Resorts' newest property on the island is in Negril. The four-star hotel boasts swim out suites, seven fine dining establishments and a bustling sports bar, nightly performers on stage, and through its Diamond Club™ program, butler service for guests. Shopping includes a fine jewelry store. Many Canadians travel here via the brand's own airline, Sun Wing, and the company also provides island transportation with Nexus Tours.
Book a Nexus driver for offsite attractions such as Mayfield Falls. An hour and a half from the Royalton, secluded Mayfield has guides who escort your group through refreshing waterfalls where one may dive, swim, sit back and enjoy a massaging cascade, or experience a natural phenomena named "The Washing Machine". There is a hike to the Falls, and sunscreen, insect spray and water shoes are provided or sold at the reception area. Your guides will point on flora and fauna, and even take photos. Lunch is also an option here.
It is said that fortune favors the bold. In Negril, the intrepid venture to Rick's Cafe, a beach bar popular with the younger set. Rick's is set on cliffs, from which local and touring divers launch themselves from as high as 85 or 35 feet, or as unintimidating as 10 feet. Dinner and drinks are served, and there's a gift shop. Rick's is an ideal spot for photographs- of the bar, divers, sunset, or cruising party boats.
Back at the Royalton, Grazie Italian Trattoria, the international buffet Gourmet Marche, Hunter Steakhouse, Zen (Japanese), Calypso (Caribbean) and Armadillo (Tex-Mex) are dining selections. A special evening may be spent by reserving C/X Culinary Experience, during which your party dines privately to a seven-course smorgasbord of light delicacies explained by a chef, complete with wine pairings from the sommelier. Work it off the next day at the fitness center's boot camp. And relief for hikers, bikers or boot camp survivors exists at The Royal Spa.
The property is divided between adult and family buildings. The beaches are picturesque, the views dreamlike. For recreation and rejuvenation, it's hard to beat the Royalton Negril.
