Die Rote Bar
Ring the bell to the inconspicuous steel-gray door at 7 Mainkai along the river, and wait for the dapper young gentleman to open the door and guide you into one of Frankfurt’s best kept secrets. Die Rote Bar—located next to a shisha lounge with only a red and black neon sign above the door for indication—is a swanky speakeasy, with a dark and sexy vibe that’s mod and an ambiance that’s seemingly straight from the 1960s. Soothing French music plays while the men dressed in white coats behind the bar concoct laboratory-like drinks for the relaxed and dignified crowd. This place—rarely frequented by tourists—is a local spot that has great energy, an impressive whiskey collection, and a wonderful concept to keep the environment fresh and under the radar.
