Tbilisi's Best Boutique Design HotelThis past September, I visited the country of Georgia for the first time. After landing in Tbilisi, Georgia’s capital city, I booked it straight to the Rooms hotel where I would stay for the next three nights.
As Tbilisi’s premier design hotel, no detail goes unnoticed. First-off, the location couldn’t be better—it’s tucked away in the bohemian heart of the city and surrounded by bistros, cafes and shops. Similar to the bohemian neighborhood, the Rooms’ indoor decor boasts color and culture at every opportunity, while still appealing to a business travel crowd.
Despite some serious jet lag, I my energy listed as soon as I walked through the main doors. The lobby is decorated sort of like a library, with books shelves lining the walls and magazines spread out on a small table. There are a few leather chairs and plush sofas both in the entranceway and in the lounge next door, which leads to the restaurant.
Even though my days were mostly spent touring through the city, I always looked forward to returning to the hotel for a cocktail at their outdoor courtyard bar or simply catching up on work in the main lounge area. As for the rooms, they kept with the cozy urban decor seen throughout the hotel. For those looking to stay fit, there’s a small but well-equipped gym on-site as well.
All in all, the Rooms is the perfect blend of old and new influences, much like Tbilisi itself. Due to it's chic layout and convenient location, many events are hosted here throughout the week. My trip coincided with the country's first ever conference on wine tourism and one of our wine tastings took place at Rooms.
If you're staying in Georgia a little longer, consider heading for the hills...literally! They have another location in Kazbegi and it's gorgeous.
