The Åndalsnes region of fjord Norway is a magnet for hikers. While amateurs stroll the course of the Rauma river, the more experienced enjoy the challenge of the dramatic Romsdalseggen ridge. The 360-degree views from the tops are the reward for the all-day commitment. The 6.2-mile trail is accessible from July to September and begins with a morning bus from Åndalsnes. Despite the relatively short distance, you should allow seven to eight hours for the hike given the challenging terrain. Sturdy hiking boots and waterproof clothing are essential.
