But in Rome do as the Romans do...
Zipping through this beautiful city, racing down the cobble stone roads, winding in and out of busy lanes. We were with three Italian men who felt more like friends than tour guides. This Vespa Tour in Rome was one of the best experiences I had during my stay in Italy, giving me a new perspective on the city in an exciting way. It wasn't some big organized tour, with a guide and a large group of people in a line. It felt more like we had made some friends who were locals in this city, and they decided to drive us around, showing us all their favorite places. Perfetto! We all hopped on the back of the bike, held on tight and enjoyed the warm sunny day and cool breeze while getting to see some of the most beautiful places in Roma. In the span of four hours we got to see the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, got a new perspective on St. Peter's Basilica, road through many different districts, saw local favorites, and got to see some hidden jems and treasures that make this city so special. Our drivers cued us in on the history of all the places we past by, and told us interesting stories and facts as we hopped off the bike and walked around various lookout points. We also stopped at a cafe for an espresso with zabaione cream (delicious! Have to try it!)
