Roka Akor has a small selection of maki rolls, but really it’s a sashimi-lover’s dream with fresh big eye tuna, yellowtail, sweet shrimp and more. Sashimi can obviously get a bit pricey, so I’d recommend supplementing your order with plenty of tempura or some of the other hot plates – like the beef and Kim Chii dumplings or the crispy Brussels sprouts, which are served with a dollop of tangy Japanese mustard. There’s also a robata grill menu with steak, seafood, lamb and veggies.
This is my favourite Japanese restaurant EVER, having that oh-so-desirable combination of amazing food and drinks, warm atmosphere & incredible (daily) happy hour specials. What makes this happy hour unmissable? $5 blood orange margaritas and half-price shoshu infusions with ice carved off a block on the bar...sweetcorn tempura, pork belly with kimchi, grilled mushrooms with garlic butter, sashimi, and more—all at half their menu prices. There's heaps of bar seating—both at the bar and at high or low tables—so bring a group of friends or don't (and keep it romantic). Happy hour daily 4:30-7pm www.rokaakor.com/uploads/menu-scottsdale-happyhour.pdf
