Maine Windjammer Sail
Weave through the islands of Penobscot Bay, visit remote fishing towns, watch lobstermen haul traps, and experience the Maine
Coast as the early explorers did by sailing aboard a Maine windjammer. The natural soundtrack accompanying your journey comprises splashing waves, crying gulls, slapping sails, clanging buoys, and whooshing wind; the visuals include sunning seals, twinkling lighthouses, uninhabited islands, and craggy shorelines; the aromas range from the briny sea to simmering chowder; and the tastes are homemade, from daily bread to fresh lobster. Each day is unscripted; the itinerary is determined by wind and tide, with sunrise and sunset framing the adventure. About a dozen Maine Windjammer Association schooners, ranging from restored or retrofitted to purpose-built for passengers, sail from Camden and Rockland on one-to-10-day cruises.
