Go MushingWhen you come to Canada and you really want to feel like one of us, you’ve got to say “eh," you need to eat something with maple syrup on it, and you have to go mushing.
Learn how to pilot a dogsled at Rob Roy Dogsledding just south of Blue Mountain Village. Fly through the snow propelled by a team of enthusiastic—and downright noisy—canines bred for the purpose.
They’re never happier than when they’re out on the trail and it’s an adrenaline-pumping experience you’d never expect to have until you’ve tried it.
You start with quick lesson (one disappointment here: no one ever actually says “mush," even though you’ll learn some cool terms, like “yee” and “haw”), and then you’re out on the track.
The views alone are spectacular, high atop the Niagara Escarpment where, on a clear day, you can see … well, you get the point.
And finish your adventure with a steaming cup of hot chocolate, the perfect antidote for a winter afternoon.
