Rafting on the Rio Grande River
A quintessential activity when visiting Jamaica is to raft along one of its majestic rivers–particularly the long, lush Rio Grande–and take in the island’s interior landscape. The sheer magnitude of the Rio Grande and its flora and fauna are worth the relaxing, slow ride down its banks. You’ll spot horses drinking in shallow areas, plenty of flora, and locals cooling off near shore. You’ll need a ride to the parked rafts waiting for tourists at the mouth of the river or Rafter’s Rest. Arrange your excursion through your hotel, unless you’re good at haggling.
