Riga Central Market
Five massive neoclassical and Art Deco–style pavilions—which once served as zeppelin hangars—are home to the largest market in Europe. Spanning 72,300 square meters (778,000 square feet) and featuring more than 3,000 stalls selling produce, dairy, meat, fish, baked goods and other foodstuffs, the market is a great spot for trying Latvian specialties like pelmeņi (dumplings), marinated herring and pickled vegetables. It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1998.
