It’s always good to be the first. Lake Arlington, chockablock with numerous fish, including the Hybrid Striped Bass, was the first lake paddling trail in Texas. Divided into two parts, it runs from Richard Simpson Park to Eugene McCray Park for 3.9 miles, then continues swimmingly to Bowman Springs Park for another seven miles. Along the way, peer through binoculars to spot osprey, ring-billed gulls, and the American white pelican, among other birds. Wedged among the smooth shores, secluded inlets provide safe places from the roar and noise of speedboats, so you can fish, nosh and sunbathe in peace.
