Up Close and Personal with the Animals at Reston Zoo
You don’t have to book an African safari to see zebras and monkeys up close. The Reston Zoo is a fun excursion for families, open every day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the week, and until 5 p.m. on weekends.
Children naturally flock to the petting barn, where they can take turns feeding sheep, lambs, llamas, goats, rabbits, and pot-belly pigs. The Zoofari wagon rides are another popular activity for children and parents alike and have a more educational tone.
While kids represent the majority of Reston Zoo visitors each year, parents and couples enjoy the activities as well. There are several scenic walking paths that take you past kangaroos, alligators, tortoises, and a slew of other animals.
