Restaurante Domingo Santo
Near the lovely Plaza de Santo Domingo, on a street torn up by post-earthquake construction, you step over the door jamb of an old colonial building into a small modern hotel lobby, lit by a skylight six floors up. The bright terrace restaurant, reached by elevator, overlooks the neighborhood roofs, a sunny oasis from the crowds of the Zocalo. Serving traditional recipes—some dating back to the Aztec— updated with cosmopolitan flair, the restaurant also mixes a delicious cocktail. (Other balcony restaurants near the Zocalo required an hourlong wait, but Domingo Santo was unrushed and very welcoming.)
