Best Kept Michelin-Starred Secret in Cáceres, Spain
Even if you can't afford to stay at their Relais & Chateaux hotel in the Spanish Extremaduran town of Cáceres, food loving visitors should not miss eating at the hotel's chef-owners Toño and José's two-Michelin starred Restaurante Atrio there. It's a true gourmet experience with every course a visual and delicious small feast. This is where a cherry is not a cherry and dessert means pre-dessert, main dessert, post dessert and post-post dessert. Oh, and a handful of hand-wrapped homemade caramels from the kitchen is a parting gift. Sweet. PS Don't miss a tour of their world renowned wine cellar: with 3400 wines on the wine list (including 50 labels of Mouton Rothschild) this may be the closest you ever come to such bounty. It's all. Amazing.
