Dine overlooking one of Greece's most beautiful squares
The village of Monemvasia is a magical place. No cars. Just a few narrow cobblestone streets that lead through this village carved into the rock walls of an island, looking out at the sea. The main square is just about perfect. A church, lovely priest's residence, a few shade trees, the cliff rising on one side, views out over the water on the other, a few shops, and this restaurant. Sitting on the roof deck allowed us to look down at a wedding taking place at the church and to make friends with some of the town's many cats. I can recommend the kleftiko--baked lamb with cheese. The service was also friendly.
