In Nice, gnocchi is made with potatoes and wheat flour. This traditional dish is a favorite in the region, and is often served with daube, a sauce made with wine and meat.
Gesu serves the best gnocchi in town. These little dumplings melt in the mouth. Although many prefer daube sauce, I like it with pisto or pesto, which brings a lightness to this otherwise filling dish.
If you can, arrive at 7 pm when the restaurant opens. I recommend sitting outside and soaking in the beautiful church just beyond the restaurant's doors. This experience is truly a delight.
