When my family of four (two kids ages 10 and 13) visited Lucerne for a long weekend, we stayed at the Renaissance. The hotel is in a great location on a bustling, somewhat French-feeling boulevard just a few minutes' walk from the train station and a stroll to the historic center of town.
The Renaissance building is a century-old palais. The interiors have been tastefully decorated with plush armchairs and fluffy duvets. The comfortable beds and soundproof windows provided a good night's rest. Some rooms have Swiss alpine or landscape views.
The concierges were extremely helpful, arranging everything from dinners to a day trip to Mt. Rigi, which is highly recommended.
Amenities include a fitness room and a popular restaurant and bar. Overall, this is a convenient, family-friendly and modern hotel in Lucerne.
