Boston’s North End has pizza joints in abbondanza, but traditionally two old-school pizzerias have battled for the title of Boston’s best place for slices: Regina Pizzeria and Santarpio’s. We love Regina Pizzeria’s neon-lit original location on Thatcher Street for the atmosphere as much as for the thin-crust, brick-oven pies. It’s managed to stay authentic for more than 90 years despite lending the Regina name to franchises throughout southern New England (there’s a reason you won’t find a line out the door at their Cape Cod Mall or Foxwoods Casino locations like you do in Boston’s Little Italy). Try one with Regina’s house-made sausage, hot out of the 900-degree oven, to complete the classic North End pizza experience.
