Fresh Produce in Downtown Baton Rouge
Visiting farmer's markets gives you a glimpse into the food culture of a destination and you may be surprised how varied it is in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I visited the Red Stick Farmer's Market, held on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays in various locations, to buy local. I saw farmers and artisans who brought their products from rural areas more than an hour away, including the ironically named Waterproof, Louisiana. You'll find fruits, vegetables, fresh seafood and meats, plants, pies, and Cajun spice mixes.
