In other places around the world it’s known as the big bus, but in Cape Town and Johannesburg it’s known as the Red Bus, the open-topped double-decker that you can hop on and off at random – at locations such as the V&A Waterfront, Kirstenbosch, Camps Bay – to get a better grasp of the city’s layout. The Cape Town Red Bus runs frequently and is extremely popular, offering one of the best ways to sightsee a city that has copious views of mountains and ocean. The most popular tours are to Table Mountain, a 14-stop mini-peninsula tour and an all-day tour of the entire peninsula.
