Rancho Margot

Alajuela Province, El Castillo, Costa Rica

What an incredible project! I remember geodesic domes from the 1970’s in Boulder, CO. So it was amazing to be a part of the building of one in this day--how they are still important & useful structures. Plus it looks so cool!

Volunteering at Rancho Margot

I volunteered at Rancho Margot, a working self-sufficient, sustainable (there’s that buzz word), off-the-grid, eco project-in-process guest ranch for 6 weeks recently & fell in love! It’s in the Rainforest near La Fortuna & Volcan Arenal. I worked in the Huerta which is the veggie gardens--it’s actually farming & I was only a small time gardener so it was a lot of work but I sure learned a lot! I gotta say, tho, it was the people that made the experience! The volunteers, the guests & the local Ticos came from all walks of life, different countries all with their stories, ideas & enthusiasm to share--so engaging & fun. Ok, here’s another truth: I got 3 delicious meals every day! Oh, and, I was totally surrounded by incredible beauty every day! I’ll definitely be returning next winter!
