The little town of Sebastopol had it's first claim to fame as being the home of the Gravenstein Apple. At one time the towns main industry, apples are still at the heart of my home town. Come harvest time I am usually picking apples for canning from friends and families back yard. One of my best friends was even married in the middle of an apple orchard in bloom. For those interested in experiencing some small town apple inspired fun there are two festivals Sebastopol hosts each year. In April there is the Apple blossom Parade and Festival in Ives Park, and in August there is the Gravenstein Apple Fair at Ragle Ranch. These festivals mark the begging and end of the apple growing season. From the first blossoms in Spring to the Apple harvest at the end of summer and into the fall. Each are filled with local goodies, yummy food, local arts, local wines, and the simple joys of fun with friends.
