Raft the Rapids
Rio Yaque del Norte, 41000, Dominican Republic
Raft the RapidsThe aquatic attractions of Dominican Republic are not limited to those in the Caribbean Sea. Inland the country is crossed by mountain ranges that include the highest point in the Caribbean (Duarte Peak, with an altitude of 10,417 feet). The rain that falls on these summits feeds the country’s rivers and as they make their way to the sea they offer excellent rafting opportunities. The class II rapids on Río Yaque del Norte, the longest river in the Caribbean, are perfect for a range of skill levels and the water is warm year-round, with temperatures in the 70s and 80s. As you test your whitewater skills make sure to look up occasionally at the mountains of the central range looming above.
