Lots of whitewater aficionados come to Costa Rica specifically for the country's rapids, which range from novice-friendly Class I to experts-only Class V. The Pacuare isn't ideal to try on your own if you're not a frequent rafter, but with an expert guide and a full kit of safety gear, it can be an unforgettable trip along one of the country's most spectacular rivers. Expect views of waterfalls and plenty of rain forest frontage.
