Qubus & Bomma
The original Qubus shop and studio, set up in 2002 in this tiny space located just a short walk from the Old Town Square, was one of Prague’s first proper post-communist design shops. Design enthusiasts could pick up a pair of porcelain Wellington boots from Maxim Velčovský or any of the other quirky designs by him and co-Qubus founder Jakub Berdych. You still can. Berdych continues to run the show, but after a short collaboration with another leading Czech design brand, the shop now includes lights and decorative glass items from modern Czech glassware company Bomma. Alongside the porcelain boots and a map of the Czech Republic in porcelain, you can find the massive Tim lamp from studio Olgoj Chorchoj or strikingly simple decorative glass items from design studio Dechem. Consider the shop a lesson in contemporary Czech design.
