Quail Creek State Park

Just north of St. George, Utah and only 30 miles from the southern gate of Zion National Park, this state park surrounds a 600 acre reservoir of the same name. The reservoir is primarily fed by the Virgin River which flows from Zion National Park, the same river which flows through Zion’s famed Narrows Canyon. Quail Creek Reservoir is great for boating and fishing and the campground in the state park is a popular alternative for Zion visitors. The water is held back by two dams, one of which is the replacement dam after the original earthen dam breached in the early hours of New Year’s Day in 1989.
