The Cenotaph of the Future
Japanese architects clearly have a thing for spaceships; perhaps it’s the heavy anime/manga influence they’ve been inundated with since childhood, but whatever the reason many buildings in Tokyo abound with sci-fi accents and flair. A neat example is the main building of the Aoyama Drafting College, a vocational school in the backwaters of youthful Shibuya that looks like it’s the support structure of an extraterrestrial assault craft which landed on its roof. Personally, I secretly suspect that the seemingly unassuming students are actually part of an advance team of an alien invasion force and all those architectural blueprints they work on are really schematics for the Death Star. I guess you’ll just have to go and check it out for yourself.
