Puro Vik

Why we love it: 19 glass houses suspended in the Chilean mountains, each with their own art theme.

The Highlights:
- Each house features three transparent glass walls that look out onto treetops and mountains
- Distinct art themes like Japan with Utagawa Hiroshige, the art of glass with Dale Chihuly, pop art, and 18th century France
- Access to the vineyards, restaurant, pool, and spa at sister property Vik Chile

The Review:
Just below the renowned boutique retreat Vik Chile in the Millahue Valley 2 hours from Santiago hang 19 glass structures on a hillside. This is Puro Vik, the latest twinkle in hospitality innovators Alex and Carrie Vik’s eyes. Each villa is comprised of three glass walls facing 11,000 acres of foliage, valley, lake, and hills, with the Andes mountain range visible in the distance. Art and design are paramount here, and each house has a distinct theme, like artifacts and antiquities, Japan with Utagawa Hiroshige, the art of glass with Dale Chihuly, pop art, 18th century France, and neon and light. Sculptures glow behind glass vitrines that stand in for a headboard, or paintings form a gallery around the room, while custom furniture and décor are their own pieces of art. Each house features a custom-made glass closet and wide-planked hardwood floors that lead from the bedroom out onto the terrace, which has a private hot tub. Spacious bathrooms feature a different marble sourced from around the world.

Guests at Puro Vik can take advantage of sister property Vik Chile at Viña VIK vineyard, including dining on farm to table cuisine at the acclaimed Milla Milla and Pavilion restaurants, indulging in signature wine treatments at the Vik Wine Spa, making use of the fitness center and show-stopping infinity pool, and doing activities like yoga, mountain biking, hiking, and horseback riding. And of course, be sure to spend time tasting the award-winning wines at the winery, which is also an architectural marvel.
